Last year, the Eaton Rapids boys cross country team finished fourth in the league, but with Dream Team junior Kenny Wherry returning this season, they are looking to finish closer to the top.
Wherry earned first-team all-league and all-state honors last season and is off to another strong start this season.
He is supported by a strong supporting cast of runners that includes seniors Brad St. Aubin, Jake Walker, and Nick Ferris; junior Kraig Whitmyer; sophomore Shea McKenzie; and freshmen Jake Spencer and Jake Rooduoets.
The Greyhounds are off to a great start, finishing first out of nine teams at their own invitational and then defeating Northwest 19-37.
The Eaton Rapids girls cross country team is also off to a strong start. The Lady Greyhounds finished third in their league last year and also finished third at the Eaton Rapids Invitational.
Top runners for the girls include seniors Kate Laverty, Kaitlin Truman, Amy Stillman, and Mandy Harns; juniors Stephanie Mason and Cassie McManus; sophomores Molly Dassance, Allison St. Aubin, and Julia Cooper; and freshman Megan McGarry.
The Greyhounds have a trio of first-team all-leaguers returning in Laverty, Truman, and Dassance.
