At face value, Fowler’s 3-2 record after the first five games of the season would lead one to believe that the Eagles are having a somewhat successful season. Dig into the numbers, though, and one would find out that the Eagles are a mere couple of points away from being undefeated.
Both of Fowler’s two losses in the first five weeks of the season came by just one point. In a defensive battle in the first game of the season, Fowler dropped a 7-6 decision to Saranac.
In the second week of the season, the Eagles bounced back in a big way with a 53-13 win against Potterville.
Week three brought the annual showdown with neighbor Pewamo-Westphalia. The game was another defensive struggle, with Pewamo-Westphalia coming away with a 15-14 victory.
With a 2-1 record after the first two weeks of the season, the Eagles bounced back with authority as they defeated Fulton 14-7 and then outlasted Bath 40-21.
Fowler’s ground game was in high gear against Bath as Dustin Wirth rushed for 143 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Tyler Koenigsknecht added 129 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Mitch Thelen almost made it a trio of 100-yard rushers as he totaled 77 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.

Cross Country
With the cross country season nearing the midway point, the Fowler cross country teams are looking to build on their strong efforts at the Spartan Invitational.
In the boys race in the White division, Fowler finished in 24th place, two spots behind Bath.
Grant Feldpausch led the way for the Eagles, placing 19th overall with a time of 17:09. Brice Thelen also broke the 18-minute mark for the Eagles with a time of 17:56.
The Fowler girls also placed 24th overall. Kieren Becker led the way for the girls, as she placed 24th with a time of 20:25. Liz Thelen and Brooke Vanells both cracked the 23-minute mark at the invitational.
