Heading into the season, the Portland football team had a major goal of extending their streak of playoff appearances to nine years, and the early indications are that the Raiders are well on their way to accomplishing that goal.
They opened the season with five straight wins, one shy of automatically qualifying for the playoffs.
The Raiders have had a number of solid efforts on both sides of the ball this season. One such win was a 48-0 victory over Lakewood.
Like they have all season, the Raiders used a total team effort as they dominated the game from start to finish.  Seven different Raiders scored touchdowns, and they put up 425 yards on the night, while holding Lakewood to only 117.
Portland not only led 28-0 at halftime, but also came right out and scored on the their first possession of the third quarter with a touchdown from Adam Goodman.  Then they forced the ball loose, and Preston Scheurer jumped on it.  The Raiders took over, and Brendan Alspaugh ran in a two-yard yard touchdown to force a running clock.
Lakewood didn’t help themselves, as they fumbled three times inside their own 35-yard line, and all three of them led to Raiders’ scores.
Alex Haik threw one touchdown to Matt Guiki and ran for one, while Andrew Barr rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries, including a 27 yard touchdown run.
Logan Seal led the defense with six tackles and a fumble recovery.
