It’s time for 32 of the best wrestling teams from across the state to converge on a rowdy Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek. It’s Michigan High School Athletic Association team state finals time. It may be a new year, but many old faces will be at Kellogg Arena this weekend to compete for state titles in all four divisions. All four defending champions, Oxford in Division 1, St. Johns in Division 2, Richmond in Division 3, and Hudson in Division 4, are back to try and defend their titles. But many former champions also qualified and will try to win back something they used to be. Add in some new faces, and Friday for the quarterfinals and Saturday for the semifinals and finals should be another exciting weekend for wrestling fans. Below is how I see things shaking out for the weekend.

Wow!! I watch this year’s run to the team state wrestling championships with great interest. As I give you my picks (and I am going head-to-head against my colleague, Jeff Chaney), I will also give you some flashbacks and memories on how the great sport of wrestling has impacted my life in the past and how it still affects it today as I make these picks.
