The Tim Anderson File

Senior, Coleman  High School

The second week of the 2011 football season, Tim Anderson broke his leg. It was a serious injury that ended what appeared to be a promising season.

This season, after three weeks, Anderson was the No. 9-ranked prep running back in the country with 630 yards on 69 carries (9.13 yards/carry) and 10 touchdowns. The team’s total on the ground is 889 yards.

Our lead backs have been doing a good job of getting the holes so I could go outside and do whatever I can do,” Anderson said.

It’s nice to have him back and running the ball,” said Coleman coach Chad Klopf. “We’re trying to get him in shape and give him some extra carries to make sure he’s ready for the long haul.”

It feels great. I love football, and I’m happy to be out here helping my team.” Anderson said.

After four weeks, Anderson had 88 carries for 714 yards (8.11 yards/carry) and three pass receptions for 106 yards. He had scored 12 rushing touchdowns and two receiving, plus eight two-point conversions. He also had 15 tackles on defense.

In the season opener, a 61-54 loss to Farwell, Anderson gained 130 yards.

That was disappointing,” Anderson said. “We didn’t come out with the intensity we needed.”

He scored a 50-yard touchdown on a hook-and-ladder play with teammate Lars Murray in a 42-22 win over Baldwin in week 2.

He’s probably the best we’ll see,” said Baldwin coach Doug Bolles.

In week three, a 68-6 win over Brethren, Anderson gained 239 yards and led his team to a 44-8 first quarter lead.

In week 4 vs. Montabella, Anderson caught a 43-yard touchdown pass and scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run with one minute to play for a 20-19 win.

In 2011, the first week against Farwell, Anderson gained more than 200 yards. The ensuing game was when his season-ending injury occurred.

I got the ball, went outside, and that’s really all I remember,” he said during basketball season. “They said, I don’t remember, that someone fell on it. I actually have a rod in my leg.”

After rehab, Anderson played basketball for the Comets and established himself as one of the team’s top players.

His grade point average is well over 3.0.
