Morley Stanwood’s hopes for a state title were dashed at home Thursday night with a 2-1 loss to Grand Rapids Covenant Christian in a very close four-set match in the state regional finals.
Covenant Christian won the first game 25-20. But Morley Stanwood out very strong in the next game 25-22. But in two very closely contested games, it was Covenant Christian 25-23, 25-23.
Mekeyla Carey had 22 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and three aces for Covenant Christian while Kayla Rosman had 15 kills and 20 digs, Jennie Kizer 14 digs, Lindsey Veersma 31 assists and Allison Veersma three aces.
