Negaunee went toe-to-toe against Ithaca last Friday night at Ithaca for one quarter. But after that, it was all Yellowjackets in a 62-34 victory.

Ithaca has won 54 straight and is 13-0. This Saturday, the Jackets have another big showdown with undefeated Montrose at Midland.

Negaunee came down from the Upper Peninsula and led Ithaca 22-20 after the first quarter. But Ithaca was up 42-28 at halftime and 59-28 after the third quarter.

Travis Smith had a big game offensively for Ithaca with 88 yards on 13 carries and 25-of-39 pass completions for 417 yards and five touchdowns with three interceptions. Josh Hafner caught eight passes for 81 yards. Logan Hessbrook had seven receptions for 217 yards. Eli Villalobos had five catches for 66 yards.

On the ground, Bryan Shaw carried the ball 20 times for 214 yards including a longest gain of 85 yards. Dallas Reeser led the Ithaca defense with 11 tackles while Josh Hafner added 10.
