The Alma Boys Soccer Team File
The Alma boys soccer team is off to a strong start this season, compiling an 8-1-1 record over the first 10 games. Alma picked up its eighth win, 6-1, against Hemlock. A balanced attack on offense and strong defensive play have been strong points for the team.
The Courtney Allen File
A junior on the Ithaca girls cross country team that is ranked second in the state in Division 3, Allen is off to a sizzling start this season. She has won three races, including the St. Johns Night Meet, the Gratiot County Championship, and the first TVC West Jamboree of the season. Allen ran a season-best time of 19:12 at the St. Johns meet.
The Dallas O’Green File
A senior running back for Carson City-Crystal, O’Green opened the season in a big way, as he rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown to help the Eagles defeat Houghton Lake. Also a standout wrestler, O’Green went 58-1 as a junior and won the 125-pound state title in Division 4.
The Kaden Keon File
A senior place kicker and wide receiver for St. Louis, Keon recently made a verbal commitment to the Central Michigan University football team as a preferred walk-on. Keon is one of the top-ranked high school kickers in the country, with range over 50 yards.
The Alma Girls Swim Team File
The Alma girls swimming and diving team is off to a strong start this season. It opened the year with three wins in its first five meets. Alma improved to 3-2 for the season when it defeated Traverse City Swim and Dive, 92-88. Junior all-stater Evelyn VandeMark leads the way for Alma.
The Evan Goodell File
The junior cross country standout from St. Louis is off to a big start for the Sharks. He opened the season by winning the Gratiot County Invitational, the Bath Invitational, and the first TVC West Jamboree of the season. Goodell also placed third at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational. Goodell ran a season-best 16:10 at Bath.
