League Champions!!!!  That is the trophy the Ithaca Boys Varsity bowling team will receive next weekend in Owosso at Capital Bowl.  The boys captured the league title with 2 wins on saturday to take  a 3 game lead into next saturdays dual meet against Shepherd and St. Louis.

Ithaca first defeated Breckenridge 25-5 with Peterson games of 850 and 1036.  “We came out really slow on our Baker games and but came back in the Petersons to take control of the match,” said Ithaca Boys coach Wallace Schneider.  The Yellowjackets were led by Dalton Carl 257, Dylan Macha 215, Matt Hoard 215 and Blake Gulick 200.

Ithaca faced division 3 Alma in the 2nd match.  Alma defeated St. Louis in the 1st match, meaning if Ithaca could get past Alma they would clinch the TVC West title with a 3 game lead with just 2 matches to go.  Ithaca fell behind 6-4 in the Baker games but came out in the 1st Peterson game with a 983 to Alma’s 906 to take an 11-8 lead into the final game.  Putting Alma away would not be easy as the last game was neck and neck the entire way.  Ithaca would use the advantage of their 77 pin lead to win the match.  “We ended up losing the final game by 5 pins but we got 3 of the individual points and the 2 points for totals of the peterson games for the win 16-14. I am so proud of this team,” said Schneider.  “We have improved so much since the beginning of the year and our starting line up has changed several times but it has really come together and we have 7 solid bowlers that can put it together at any time.”
