Shepherd student and star softball catcher Adri Nelson was diagnosed this year with Large B Cell Leukemia, which is curable. Nelson is currently undergoing chemotherapy and other treatment.

On September 17 at the Alma High School softball fields, there will be a benefit game to raise funds for Nelson and her family. The benefit games will start at noon.

The cost for a participating team is $100 and organizers are looking for between four to six teams. Spectators will be charged a $5 admission cost. There will be a first-place, second-place and third-place trophy handed out at the end of the tournament. A concession stands will also be present.

All proceeds from the day will go directly to the Nelson family to pay for Adri’s medical expenses.

In 2017, NElson was honorable mention All-State and first team All-Tri Valley Conference Central. She batted .444 with 63 hits, 13 doubles, three home runs, 30 RBIs, 41 runs and .599 slugging percentage.

Fundraiser at St. Louis High School 

On August 30, the St. Louis softball team will hold a fundraiser for Nelson at the Blue Shamrock in St. Louis from 5-8 p.m. There will be a taco dinner and cost is $10, with all proceeds going to the Nelson family. There will also be $2 bracelets available and a donation table will be set up.
