Tim Stout is in his second season in a unique position as Carson City-Crystal football coach.

He is not on the teaching staff.

“My wife and I own two businesses in Carson City and in Crystal,” he said. “Last year was my first year as the head coach at Carson City. The previous five years, I was defensive coordinator there. I’ve actually been with the program in my 10th season. My son Drew was playing through the youth teams. I knew at some point in time I wanted to be a high school coach. Coach Shawn Bollinger was the head coach and I talked to him about volunteering. That was 10 years ago and that’s how I got my foot in the door on the high school level.”

The Eagles were 5-4 in Stout’s first year

“Coach Devin Pringle had run the power T two years ago.” Stout said “Coach (Ben) Brock came in and he was just here for one year. His offense was a spread. I got hired late in the game last year, two weeks before the season started. We were making wholesale changes going from the spread back to traditionally a power run. There was quite a transition. We got off to a late start. We started out 0-2. We’re winning both of those games against Saranac and Sacred Heart. But just didn’t hang on. As the season progressed we got back into being who we wanted to be offensively and defensively. We won five of our next six games after starting out 0-2.”
