The Beal City Varsity Cross Country teams opened Highland Conference competition at the first of three conference jamborees in Evart on Tuesday. Both the boys and girls placed fifth in the team competition. Rachal Weber (7th, 22:18.4) and Emma Gross (12th, 23:32.5) both finished in the top fifteen and the addition of three last place “ghost runners” gave them a team score for Highland standing. Alex Taylor paced the boys as he placed 4th in 17:40.1 and was joined in the top 15 by Derek Gross (11th, 19:01.1) who was the only Aggie to improve his season best on the tough Evart course. Levi Eisenbach (18th, 19:56.4) was the team’s third runner with Matthew Kolb (30th, 20:46.5) and Michael Hopkins (44th, 21:53.8) completing the Beal City scoring. The Aggies will put in a round of training before returning to competition a week from Saturday at the Carson City Don Baese Invitational.
