The Bear Lake Lakers jumped out early on the Crossroad Cougars in Saturday’s 38-28 win, recovering an onside kick to start the game then taking the ensuing possession down for a score to take an 8-0 lead. The Lakers would score two more times before the Cougars got on the board with a fumble recovery for touchdown by Keegan McKinnon. The Cougars forced a punt on the Lakers next possession. After the punt the Cougars were able to connect on a 58 yard pass and catch between David Burley and Hunter Walsh to cut the lead to 22-12. The score was 24-12 at the half. The Lakers scored twice in the third quarter to push the lead to 38-12. The Cougars answered with two scores in the 4th to make the final 38-28. Walsh threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Burley had 142 yards receiving. McKinnon added 85 yards receiving. On defense, McKinnon had 15 tackles to lead the way. Hunter Geeseman added 11 tackles. The Cougars are in action next week Friday against Mesick.
