Saginaw Heritage’s volleyball team has gotten off to a strong start with junior Ayden Cribbs playing no small role in that success.

Cribbs is in her second varsity season.

Cribbs had 35 kills, 8 aces and 37 assists in her team’s first-place effort at the Swan Valley Invitational.

“Ayden is stepping up this year both hitting and setting,” coach Britney Myers, who played volleyball at Central Montcalm, said. “Her attacks have become much more aggressive and her court awareness has improved. She’s our team leader in kills and blocks.”

Myers has been impressed with Cribbs’ consistency.

“Her powerful attacks and ability to read and see the holes,” has been critical, Myers said. “Her court awareness helps her game significantly.

“She has taken on a new position (setting) and has been able to really contribute to our offense. She is a much more confident and stronger player. Her knowledge of the game has increased. We expect her to continue to be a leader on our offense.”
