For the sixth straight year, your Beal City Boys’ Cross Country team has qualified for the MHSAA State Final Meet. The Aggie boys finished third at Friday’s Regional with 81 points, 11 ahead of 8th ranked Carson City – Crystal and behind only 2nd ranked Sacred Heart and 3rd ranked Breckenridge. Four of the Aggies seven varsity runners posted season or lifetime bests, as did Rachal Weber whose 5th place finish at 20:13.6 in the girls’ race earned her State Meet qualification as an individual. Alex Taylor paced the boys with a third place finish in 16:39.1 followed by Derek Gross with a lifetime best 17:39.2 in 15th. Levi Eisenbach (18th, 17:58.5) was next while Matthew Kolb (23rd, 18:30.8), in a huge lifetime best, and Nathan Reihl (27th, 18:52.2), with a season best, closed out the scoring. Jacob Vollmar also recorded a lifetime best as the team’s sixth runner in 19:51.4. Three more Beal City boys delivered improvements in the Post Regional Open Meet as Logan Mishler (19:55.2) and Nathan Coston (23:24.9) had season marks and Travis Faber (21:46.7) posted a lifetime best. The Aggie boys, and Rachal, will now prepare to finish at their best in Saturday’s MHSAA Division 4 State Final Meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The Aggie boys’ race will start at 9:30 and Rachal will run at 10:50.
