  1. The Wrestling Team finished their season 13-9. This is the ninth straight season that the Warrior finished with double digit dual meet victories.

At the conference meet they finished fifth with seven athletes claiming all league honors (1st Place-Vic Schoenherr, Alexzander Simmons, 2nd Place-Austin Hale, 3rd Place-Ben Harris, 4th Place-Jacob Coffey, 6th Place-Dakota Lazarowicz, Nick Amy).

At Individual District hosted at Bay City Western Four Grappler’s punched their tickets to Regionals: Vic Schoenherr-1st, Alex Simmons-1st, Austin Hale-2nd, and Jacob Coffey-3rd.

At the Individual Regional Three Grapplers punched their tickets to the Individual State Tournament: Vic Schoenherr-1st, Austin Hale-3rd, Alex Simmons-4th.

At the State Meet Junior Vic Schoenherr capped a great junior season with a runnerup finish at the 145 Pound Division 1 Weight Class.

Warriors return 21 of 25 starters heading into to the 2018-2019 season.

 

  1.  Austin Hale Two Time Bay County Champion, Three Time State Qualifier. Won 170 Matches in his career. Academic All Saginaw Valley League and Academic All State. Four Year Varsity Letterwinner.

Alex Simmons Bay County Champion, Saginaw Valley League Champion, District Champion, and State Qualifier. Won 120 matches in his career. Four Year Varsity Letterwinner.

 

  1. Vic Schoenherr is a Senior and returning State Finalist. He is looking to become Bay City Western’s Eighth State Champion in School history. He is a Team Captain for the third year in a row. He is being looked at by Cornell and Drexel.

Jacob Coffey is a Sophomore and a Regional Qualifier from last year.

Brock Niernberg is a Junior and also a Team Captain this year. He has won 50 matches in the past two years at the Varsity level.

Ben Harris is a Sophomore Heavyweight. Last year he won over twenty matches and was the Bay County Champion.

 

  1. I expect us to be competitive in the area. We should be vying for County and District Titles. We have competitive athletes here that push each other in practice every single day. Great Leadership from our Captains Vic Schoenherr and Brock Niernberg.

 

  1. Chemistry. The athletes generally like each other. At lunch time they can be found sitting with each other. In practice they are always pushing eachother.

 

  1. Continue to work on the little things: Positioning and Mental Toughness.

 

  1. We are in the Saginaw Valley League which is one of the toughest conferences in the State. The leader of the Conference is Davison.
