Jaden Theis junior season has been an impressive one for Lansing Catholic.

As a sophomore, Theis was sixth in the state in Division 2. But it’s been an impressive season as a junior with Theis having taken five first places and one second in her first six races. This includes a first-place effort in the Region 14 meet at Ovid Elsie in 17:49.2. Her personal best was a 17:07.39 in the DeWitt Cross Country Invitational.

Her only second place finish was still a fine time of 17:07.3 in the Michigan State Cross Country Invitational.

“Generally, her times are 30 seconds or faster than last year,” Lansing Catholic coach Tim Simpson said. “She’s really fast. Right now, she’s ranked among the top 20 runners in the country.

“She’s pretty tenacious so she gets out pretty good. She puts herself out the from the start and goes for it. The only time she got beat is by another girl ranked in the top 20 in the nation as well. She’s confident to go out and go for fastest times.”

Theis is also a track all-stater and trains year-round.

“She’s a super hard worker,” Simpson said. “She’s always doing something. If she’s not running, she might do swimming or weightroom or stuff like that.”
