MILLINGTON – Gabbie Sherman proved once again why she is one of the best pitchers in the state of Michigan as she over powered Vassar and Reese in the 2019 Michigan High School Athletic Association’s District 94 tournament. The All-State senior threw two no-hitters on the day as she and the Cardinals defeated Vassar 9-0 in the semi-finals and mercied Reese 11-0 in five innings in the district final. In 12 innings pitched on the day, Sherman struck out 28 batters and allowed only three base runners; an error against Vassar and and hit by pitch and an error versus Reese.

Sherman (19-2) has now struck out 206 batters on the year versus just five walks in 116 innings.

Leah Denome and Sydney Bishop led the team offensively against Vassar each collecting two hits. Denome had three RBIs and a triple. Bishop had two RBIs and a triple.

Sherman, McKenna Slough, and Elizabeth Bees each had one hit.

Denome and Slough each had two hits versus Reese. Denome added an RBI, while Slough added two RBIs.

Sherman hit a two-run home run in the second inning to add to her three RBI game. Darrien Roberts, Bishop, Madi Hahn, Sabrina Gates, and Bees each added one hit.

Millington (33-2-1) will move to the regional semi-final game at Lakeville Memorial High School in Otisville, MI to take on Chesaning Union High School (27-3) on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
