Brad Gross’ Beal City Aggies are trying to bounce back from a 2-7 season last year and started off impressively with a 56-0 win over Saranac on Thursday.

Beal was 2-7 with wins over Evart and Hesperia in 2018. Nate Wilson and Brendan Shaner were both lost to injury.

Key seniors are Seth Schafer, Chase Smith, Logan Chilman, Jack Schafer, Trey Small, Easton Yuncker and Talon Neath; key juniors are Ben Matthews, TJ Maxon, Ethan Locke and Jake Gross. Sophomore Wade Wilson should also have a strong season.

“We expect to compete for a conference title and make a run at the playoffs,” Gross said. “Being a team (is a strength). The kids all like each other and get along.”

“Being consistent and having fun” are what the Aggies need to focus on, Gross said.

The Highland “is a strong Conference with two new faces in Roscommon and Houghton Lake,” Gross said.
