PIGEON – The Millington varsity volleyball team competed in the Laker Invitational on Saturday, October 19 and came home with a 2nd place finish.
The Cardinals took 2nd place in their pool by splitting with North Huron (25-22, 19-25) and Lakeville (25-22, 25-27).
They then proceeded to take first place in their power pool and earn a #1 seed in the bracket play by splitting with Frankenmuth (25-19, 21-25) and defeating Lakeville in a rematch by the scores of 25-22 and 25-22.
In bracket play, Millington defeated the host team Laker High School 25-18 and 25-13 in the semi-finals before falling in a rematch with Frankenmuth by the scores of 13-25 and 19-25.
Hailey Crump had 54 digs and 43 kills to lead Millington on the day. Kate Cooper had 54 assists, 32 kills, and 31 digs. Hannah Bees added 22 kills and 17 aces.
Emily Martin had 29 assists. Darrien Roberts had 44 digs, while Chloe Bremer had 25.
Millington (15-9-9) will host St. Louis on Wednesday, October 23 in a Tri-Valley West match. The start time is 7:00 p.m.
