Division 3 boys had some outstanding runners in the state meet led by New Lothrop’s Carson Hersch, who was third (16:51.1) and Ithaca’s Braxton Lamey (16:20.4), who was seventh.

“I thought my race was pretty good,” Hersch said. “The course was better than it was in past years. There were some muddy spots. I thought overall, I did pretty good.

“Next year, I hope to have a pretty good year. I have some work I have to put on in the offseason.”

Morley Stanwood’s Aiden McLaughlin was ninth in 16:26.1 in the boys race.

McLaughlin took seventh last year.

“I was happy with it,” he said of this year’s race. “Conditions weren’t great. I still had a good time. It was a good way to end my high school career. No regrets. I would have liked to have gotten in the top five. But I did the best I could.”

McLaughlin said he will be running somewhere next year collegiately but hasn’t made that determination yet.

“I have basketball season coming up and I’m excited about that,” he said.
