Hemlock coach Matt Bauer: “I knew we were going to be a little short-handed tonight. Third-year starter Nolan Finkbeiner was injured at the star of the second half vs. Nouvel on Friday and had to sit out tonight’s contest as well. I also thought we might be without the services of center Michael Zolinski, who sprained his ankle early but was able to do very little in the two practices after. The plan was to keep him on the bench tonight unless we needed him.

“At the end of the first quarter, I decided to give him a look. I’m glad I did. He ended up scoring 18 points and grabbed a team high 10 rebounds. We’re very fortunate to have another star guard in Jayden Evans, who can fill the role of that lead guard and be a go to guy for our offense. He was awesome again tonight with 25 points to go along with a solid floor game. I hope we continue to get healthy. But in the mean time, I am proud of the efforts of our other guys who stepped up tonight.”

Hemlock is at Carrollton on Friday. Both teams are undefeated.
