Lauren Barton recorded a double-double on Friday night but the Ovid Elsie Lady Marauders dropped a conference road game at Chesaning, 43-28.

The Marauders took a 6-1 edge after the first quarter but Chesaning ratcheted up their defense and outscored OE in the second period, 14-5 to take a 15-11 lead at half.  It was more of the same as the Indians outscored the Marauders 15-5 in the third to push their lead to 30-16 at the end of quarter.  The final stanza saw Chesaning outscore Ovid-Elsie 13-12.

Lauren Barton finished with a game high 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds while Caitlyn Walter added 6 points.  Madison Cunningham (4 rebounds) and Kalista Bancroft each chipped in with 2 points while Lexi Kusiner added 1.

“I think we really showed our youth tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham.  “We struggled with turnovers and got ourselves into foul trouble early and we just didn’t bounce back.”

The Marauders fall to 8-5 (5-4 MMAC) while Chesaning improved to 12-1 (8-1 MMAC).  The Marauders will travel to Durand next Friday night.
