Portland girl bowlers on Saturday Jan. 25, traveled to Fairlanes Bowling alley in Grandville for the annual Zeeland Bowling Tournament.
Coach Joe Whitford: We all were on pins and needles during qualifying, after the 7th out of 10 games we were in last place out of 12 teams.
Then the girls dug deep and hard, winning the 1st round, then amazingly enough came through and took out Jenison the number 1 seed.
Next up was against Northview, we beat them to advance into the championship game against Mona Shores Sailors.
In a 2 game match we came up 17 pins short of winning the championship.
