Merrill 48, Montabella 47

The Montabella Mustangs traveled to Merrill on Friday night, where the rims were not friendly to the visitors early, and the home team caught fire early in the first quarter. The Mustangs struggled to find a rhythm throughout the first half and found themselves trailing 28-13 at halftime. Trailing by as much as 22 in the 3rd quarter, the Mustangs used an 18-0 run to tie the game at 40-40 late in the 4th. The two teams would exchange a couple of leads and the Mustangs took a 1 point lead with under 10 seconds remaining on and and 1 play from Austin Pawlowski. On a last second effort, Merrill was able to put the ball in the hoop to regain a 1 point lead with under 2 seconds remaining, and that score would stand as the final, 48-47 in favor of the Vandals. 

 
Austin Pawlowski scored 14 points, 11 of which came in the 3rd quarter, along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
RJ Neuman played a great game wire to wire, scoring 15 points, and grabbing 13 Rebounds
Caleb Theisen scored 7 points with 4 rebounds
JT Smith scored 6 points and had 7 rebounds. 
The Mustangs continue in action against Fulton on Monday at Fulton, JV tip at 5:30pm
