HSSS FOOTBALL RANKINGS

Following are rankings of high school football teams in the High School Sports Scene Magazine primary coverage area.

 

DIVISION 1

DAVISON 3-0: Displayed offensive versatility in 39-8 win against Harper Woods.

ROCKFORD 3-0: Has to wait to extend winning streak as Covid-19 forced postponement of Friday’s game with Grand Haven.

GRAND LEDGE 2-1: Comet offense continued to soar in win against Mattawan.

 

DIVISION 2

EAST LANSING 3-0: Trojan defense came through with second shutout of the season.

MIDLAND 3-0: Chemics stayed unbeaten by outlasting Mt. Pleasant in a high-scoring battle 42-21.

LOWELL 3-0: Undefeated Red Arrows face their toughest test of the season when they collide with Byron Center in a battle of conference unbeatens.

MIDLAND DOW 3-0: Charger quarterback Jack Bakus continued his fine play by throwing three touchdown passes in win over Saginaw Heritage.

 

DIVISION 3

DEWITT 3-0: Panthers face a huge test this week when they travel to Detroit to take on Catholic League heavyweight Warren De La Salle.

MASON 3-0: Bulldog defense turned in big effort in shutout of St. Johns. Face a 2-1 Fowlerville team this Friday.

CEDAR SPRINGS 2-1: Red Hawks came up short against defending D4 state champions Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Face undefeated G.R. South Christian this Friday.

  1. PLEASANT 2-1: Oilers looking to rebound against Flint Powers this week after coming up short in last week’s showdown with Midland.

FOWLERVILLE 2-1: Gladiators have posted close wins against Haslett (23-21) and Holt (17-14) the past two weeks.

 

DIVISION 4

WILLIAMSTON 3-0: Quarterback Luke Mahaney has passed for over 500 yards in leading the Hornets to a 3-0 record.

FLINT POWERS 1-2: Defeated Arthur Hill for first win of the season. Face a tall task this week with Mt. Pleasant on tap.

ALMA 1-2: Offense was hitting on all cylinders in win against Bridgeport.

 

DIVISION 5

FRANKENMUTH 3-0: Defense proved key as Eagles stopped Essexville-Garber in TVC-East showdown.

PORTLAND 2-1: Portland defense proved too strong as the Raiders won their sixth straight regular-season contests against Lansing Catholic.

LANSING CATHOLIC 2-1: Cougar offense was grounded by a stingy Portland defense in first loss of the season.

ESSEXVILLE-GARBER 2-1: Dukes look to regroup after tough loss to Frankenmuth.

SWAN VALLEY 2-1: Vikings have been playing some outstanding defense this season.

FREELAND 2-1: Showdown time in the TVC-Central this week as Freeland squares off against Swan Valley.

BELDING 3-0: Undefeated Black Knights face a big challenge this week as they face Hopkins in a battle of OK Silver Conference unbeatens.

BULLOCK CREEK 1-2: Looks to regroup after tough loss to Hemlock.

 

DIVISION 6

CLARE 3-0: Pioneers continue to score points in bunches as they totaled 55 in win against Farwell.

MILLINGTON 3-0: Improved to 3-0 for the season as defense tossed looked strong and offense put up over 40 points in win against MLS.

DURAND 3-0: Railroaders continued to be one of the surprises of the season with a 55-15 win against Otisville-LakeVille.

MONTROSE 2-1: Rams ran into an offensive juggernaut is loss to New Lothrop.

 

DIVISION 7

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 3-0: Pirates have not skipped a beat this season as they reload coming off last year’s state title.

NEW LOTHROP 3-0: Quarterback Cam Orr providing plenty of offense both as a passer and as a runner.

ITHACA 3-0: Outstanding senior class has Yellowjackets off to a strong start.

HEMLOCK 3-0: Running back Robert Knapik rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns last week.

LAINGSBURG 2-1: Quarterback Doug Matthews showed plenty of versatility as he passed for 218 yards and rushed for 75 yards while accounting for three scores.

BEAVERTON 2-1: Beaver offense found its grove during a 50-point outburst last week.  

 

DIVISION 8

BEAL CITY 3-0: Aggies continue to top the standing in the Highland Conference.

FOWLER 3-0: Eagles look to sharpen their game with showdown against Pewamo-Westphalia looming next week.

BRECKENRIDGE 2-1: Looked sharp in big win against St. Charles.

SAGINAW NOUVEL 2-1: Defense pitched a shutout while offense put up 41 points in improving to 2-1 for the season.

SARANAC 1-2: After facing Fowler last week the schedule gets even rougher with Pewamo-Westphalia the opponent this week.
