Friday night the Falcons traveled to Birch Run to take on the Panthers. Birch Run would get the ball first and the Falcons would play defense the way they know how, physical and fast. The Falcon defense forced a punt and the offense went 63 yards in 6 plays. Bryson Huckeby hooked up with Ben Wellnitz for a 24 yard touchdown pass and catch. Jacob Kundinger would add the extra point to give the Falcons a 7-0 with 5:46 to go in the first.

Birch Run would go back to work. Some sloppy play by the falcons would allow Birch Run to hold on to the ball for 16 plays, but would stop the Panthers on the Falcon 18 yard line. It would take Freeland just 2 plays to find the endzone after Bryson would find Alex Duley this time wide open down the middle of the field. Jacob would add another extra point. With just 12 seconds to go in the 1st Freeland would stretch the lead to 14-0.

The Falcon defense would force another 3 and out. The offense would take over on the 35 yard line when Byrson went back to the air. This time he found senior Easton Armtstrong for 65 yards down the middle of the field to expand the lead to 21-0.

On Birch Run’s next possession, Blake Watson came up with a forced fumble and recovery. The Falcons would take over on the 30 yard line. After a roughing the passer and an 18 yard completion, Jacob Kundinger would punch it in from 2 yards out. With 10:12 to go in the half the Falcons would lead 27-0.

Once again, the defense would force a 3 and out and the offense would take the field again. This time Freeland would take 7 plays and Easton Armstrong would use his speed around the corner and score from 14 yards out. The 2pt conversion was no good, so with 5:39 to go in the half, Freeland would lead 33-0.

Another 3 and out for the defense and the old school Falcon offense would show up. The offense took over with 4:03 to go in the half and would use 14 plays to travel 80 yards. Garrett Pistro punched it into the endzone with 25 seconds left in the half to push the lead to 39-0 at the half.

In the first half the Falcon offense would rack up over 300 yards and the defense would hold Birch Run to just 65 total yards.

The 2nd half would start out with the special teams taking over. Easton Armstrong would score his 3rd TD of the game on a 77 yard kickoff return. Kundinger would add another extra point and the Falcons would lead 46-0.

Birch Run would score back to back touchdowns to cut the lead to 46-14 with 8:09 to go in the game. Again, old school Freeland would march 73 yards in 13 plays and senior Carter Suppes would cap the scoring with a 1 yard TD run for your final, Freeland 52 and Birch Run 14.

The offensive line of: Gabe Blanchard,  Blake Watson,  Cole Wiese, Spence Cottrell, Luke Bercel played outstanding tonight.

The Falcons are home next week to take on the Vikings of Swan Valley.
