MORLEY ― The Morley Stanwood Mohawks swept Holton 25-18, 25-4 and Central Montcalm 25-18, 25-15 at home Wednesday night.

I thought everybody played pretty well,” said Morley Stanwood coach Robin Kozuch. “We got a lot of players in. Everybody played pretty well. Everybody was almost on even playing time which we haven’t been able to do much this year having such a tough schedule, but on purpose.”

Morley Stanwood is 14-6-1 overall and 4-0 in the CSAA.

We’ve improved on communication and staying balanced on our feet, getting some tips and stuff,” said Mohawk senior Melissa Holland. “I think we could still improve on blocking. Overall, we did pretty good.”

I think we’re doing pretty well but every team has a lot of work to do at the beginning (of the season),” said senior Bailey Cairnduff, adding that a main challenge at this stage is  “our communication and moving together on the floor.”

For the night, Alexis Huntey contributed 18 kills and six aces while  Bailey Cairnduff was credited with 16 kills and 18 assists. Sam Carey and Kayla Rosman contributed 16 digs apiece. Rosman also had six blocks and six aces.

I thought we had a real strong night of serving,” Kozuch said. “Everybody served aggressively. I was happy with very few errors serving. That was probably one of our stronger points.”
