Morley Stanwood placed 16th as a team in Saturday’s Joe Loren Memorial wrestling event at Chippewa Hills and had two place finishers with Steve Malloy at 189 for first place and Corey Near at 171 taking third.
Malloy is now 15-0 after beating Gus Ward of Lakeview 3-2 in the title match.
Near won in the consolation final for third place over Nick Schwarz of Pennfield and is 11-5.
“I’m very happy,” said Morley Stanwood coach Jeff Davis. “Corey wrestled very well. (Malloy) had a couple of good matches where he was pushed the whole period, the whole match. We needed him to go a whole match.”
