Bowlers are gearing up for the state finals March 1-2.

The Division 1 finals are at Northway Lanes in Muskegon, Division 2 at Century Bowl in Waterford, Division 3 at Airport Lanes in Jackson, and Division 4 at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights.

Rockford boys hope to do well in Division 1. Coach Paul Bellgraph said that his team is led by Shane Gerow, Jordan Kaufman, and Eric Buck.

“We won two invites this year, the Union invite and the East Kentwood invite, and also made the cut in all the other tournaments we entered. We also set a school record for pin fall in a match with a 2,331 two-game total,” Bellgraph said. “We hope to be in the top three at regionals so we have a chance to go to state as a team, but Shane, Jordan, and Eric have a good chance of going as individuals this year.”

Coach Matt Fabus of Ovid-Elsie noted that his girls won the TVC West Conference with a record of 9-1, led by Makaylin Palatka, Hannah Orweller, Courtney Martin, and Tori Huss.

For the boys, Alex Donnert, Aiden Courtnay, and Tyler Henning lead the way.

Kyle Woodcock,  St. Louis’ girls’ coach, is hoping that his team does well in Division 4.

“We need to get through regionals and get to the state finals, where I would think we could make the top 8, then it’s anybody’s game,” he said.
