Can anyone stop the Ithaca Yellowjackets?
Maybe someday, some month, some year. But last Friday wasn’t the time.
Ithaca’s winning streak went to 46 games with a 70-0 whipping over Merrill. It was 56-0 at halftime. The Yellowjackets scored seven points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Travis Smith was a perfect 11-of-11 in the air for 191 yards and four touchdowns. Jacob Smith was also perfect at 4-of-4 for 64 yards.
Logan Hessbrook caught four passes for 65 yards. Eli Villalobos and Jacob Smith caught three passes apiece for 63 and 46 yards. Bryan Shaw rushed four times for 45 yards. Smith had two rushes for 34 yards and Dallas Reeser four carries for 31 yards.
Defensively, Ricky King had eight tackles, Tyler Spitzly had seven tackles, followed by Jeb Loomis with six and Villalobos, Aaron Barnes and Derek Teed with five apiece. Villalobos had an interception.
Ithaca is 4-0.
