The Lakeview Wildcats gave it their best shot but it wasn’t quite good enough on Friday in a 31-21 loss to undefeated Reed City in the Central State Activities Association.

The Wildcats fell to 3-2 but have the schedule in their favor the rest of the way to go 7-2 and get a playoff spot.

Nate Shurlow’s 1-yard run gave Lakeview a 7-6 lead after the first quarter. But Reed City had a 20-7 lead after the third quarter. The Wildcats struck in the third on Garrett Cavendish’s 46-yard touchdown run. But Reed City scored the next two touchdowns to put the game away. Cavendish had a 19-yard run late in the game for six points.

Cavendish had 159 yards rushing compared to 40 for Shurlow.

 

Shurlow passed for 32 yards.
