Big Rapids’ football team fell to 3-5 with a 61-22 loss to Newaygo in Central State Activities Association action on Friday night.

Newaygo had a 34-8 halftime lead. The Cardinals scored in the second quarter on a 17-yard pass from Ty Lattimore to Jon Spicer. Lattimore passed 80 yards to Mike Tassoni in the third quarter and also threw a 35-yard strike to Spicer in the fourth. The Cards had a negative nine yards net rushing but had 271 on passing. Lattimore was 9-of-17 in passing for 211 yards while Jamison Green was 3-of-5 for 60 yards. Tassoni caught five passes for 123.

 

Maverick Steffes led the defense with 11 tackles for Big Rapids.
