Justin Doyle had a strong game for Alma on Friday in the Panthers’ comeback bid over Shepherd but it wasn’t enough in a 30-25 loss to the Blue Jays.
Alma, 1-7, fell behind 18-0 in the second quarter before nearly pulling it out.
Justin Doyle had touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards for alma. Doyle also caught a 9-yard pass from Jalen Pereida for another score. Jonny Goulette had a 16-yard touchdown run for Alma.
Alma was led by Boyd Hubbard with 13 tackles. Doyle was 12-of-22 in passing for 54.5 percent for 126 yards and one touchdown. Doyle rushed for 94 yards on 19 carries. Goulette had 87 yards in 13 attempts.
