Portland St. Patrick will make a bid for the 8-man state title beginning this week when it takes on Carsonville-Port Sanilac, a former 8-man state champ.
It’s the third year of the MHSAA tournament for 8-man football.
Portland and Carsonville-Port Sanilac was one of 16 teams that had enough points to qualify for the playoffs.
The winner of this game will play the survivor of Deckerville, 5-4, at Peck, 9-0 in a quarterfinal game next week. The semifinals and title game will be later in November. The title game will be the Superior Dome at Northern Michigan if a U.P. Team is involved. If not, it will be host in the Lower Peninsula.
